Stay off frozen lakes and ponds in the cold snap – that’s the warning from Swansea Council.
Parks experts at the Council say there are reports of people playing on frozen lakes and ponds across the city and are issuing a warning that the consequences could be fatal.
Many reports in particular have referred to ponds and lakes at Brynmill Park and Singleton Park.
Swansea Council has put up warning signs at several locations but some have already been stolen.
Ian Beynon, Swansea Council Development and Outreach Manager, said: “I can’t stress enough how important it is that people stay off frozen lakes and ponds. The ice may look thick but it can crack very quickly and the consequences could be fatal.
“I’d also ask parents to urge their children to stay away from frozen lakes and ponds and would encourage dog owners to keep their dogs on leads.”
