Rhyl Air Show set to return

Denbighshire County Council has announced that Rhyl’s annual air show will return to the town this year and take place on 6-7 August, 2011.

The air show is fast becoming North Wales’ biggest FREE seafront event and the 2011 show will feature spectacular aerial displays, land-based attractions and plenty of entertainment for all the family.

Event organiser Sian Davies said: “In previous years the air show has attracted huge crowds who have been thrilled by the world famous Red Arrows’ display. An estimated audience of over 90,000 were enthralled by the two day event last year.

Rhyl Promenade has a superb crowd line and it was a pure joy to see tens of thousands of people enjoying such a great weekend.”

“It give me great pleasure to announce that this years nominated charity will be The Royal Air Force Association.”

The RAF Association’s Director of Fundraising, Rachel Huxford, said: “We are delighted to be able to support the air show and are really looking forward to the Summer event. It should be a great day out for the whole family and we are particularly pleased to have the opportunity to work so closely with Denbighshire County Council.”

The RAF Association provides help and support for past and present members of the RAF and their families. For further information, please visit the charity’s website at www.rafa.org.uk

Alongside the flying programme, there will be plenty of activity on the ground including an air show village, fun fair and entertainment. The main air show will take place on Sunday (7 August), but on Saturday (6 August) there will be flypasts and promenade displays.

Please be aware that all military displays are subject to operational requirements and, of course, the weather.
