Exclusive: Phone in Sick 2011 location revealed

Cardiff’s proto-punk poppets Sicknote think they are having a secret gig this Sunday. They have been promoting their ‘Phone in Sick Party 2011’ all over the Internet using social networks such as Facebook.

They say that the gig is to be held at a “secret Cardiff location to be announced”. We at Welsh Icons have always liked a challenge and decided to try and track down the location of this “secret Cardiff location”.

We started with front man Doghouse who told us:

“Sob, me and Sian have split up again. Sob, I’m thinking of going back to Wigan. Sob, it’s all right now as Sian and I are back together and will be playing at Clwb Ivor Bach on Sunday night”.

We then asked the ‘brains’ behind the band Johan Flapsandwich where he was going to hold the event. He told us:

“The T-shirt is in the post, I promise the T-shirt is in the post but if you don’t get it by Saturday come and see me at Clwb Ivor Bach on Sunday night and I’ll sort you out – Snafe”.

We then approached their notorious volatile drummer Phil ‘The Filth’ who told us to “f**k off” and that if he saw us hanging around Clwb Ivor Bach on Sunday evening he would be “wearing our testicles as earings”.

Desperation was setting in so we approached their driver Dickie Balbao and even tried to ply him with alcohol. He stated that:

“I only drink orange juice” and then went into a long story about a pit pony who used to live in Abertridwr which unfortunately none of the Welsh Icons team could understand.

We finally asked the band’s VJ Johnny No-cash if he would be joining his colleagues on Sunday night. He refused to answer but his partner’s panda stated:

“If you lend Johnny a pound he can go to Cost-Cutters and buy three packets of Custard Creams for £0.99 – He’ll give you the money back – Honest”

After providing a pound, Johnny intimated to us that he would pay us back at Clwb Ivor Back on Sunday evening.

So there we have it. It would appear that the Phone in Sick Party 2011 will be taking place as Clwb Ivor Bach, Womanby Street, Cardiff on Sunday 30 January.

We understand that it will feature:

  • SICKNOTE
  • FREEAR
  • RATFACE
  • DJ TOMMY TANK
  • THE WIGAN DWARVES BREAKDANCING SOCIETY

plus surprise special guests

8pm-2am with secret after party

You can get your tickets at http://www.tantrumshop.co.uk/ or try and bribe Johnny with some money or biscuits.
