Local Charity Benefits from Bereavement Services Fundraising

Cardiff Council’s Bereavement Services have raised £1120.83 for the League of Friends of Whitchurch Hospital.

During the Palm Sunday Memorial Service and Christmas Memorial Service, visitors to Thornhill Crematorium and Cemetery were invited to lay a memorial card with personal message in memory of a loved one. The cards were placed in a designated area outside the crematorium for a donation of £2.

Dignity Caring Funeral Services also donated £250.00 to the charity for the Christmas Memorial Service.

Councillor Nigel Howells, Executive Member for Sport, Leisure and Culture, said: “We recognise that national holidays can be a particularly difficult time for those who have lost a loved one.  Cardiff Council is glad to be able to give this opportunity for people to pay their respects to their loved ones and to support the Friends of Whitchurch Hospital, an organisation that does such good work.”

Roger Thomas, Treasurer of the Friends of Whitchurch Hospital said:

“We are very grateful to Cardiff Council and Dignity Caring Funeral Services plus all who organised the memorial services for the very generous donation”
