THE Welsh Assembly Government is close to opening it’s new office in Aberystwyth and a further North Wales base is already under construction.
First Minister Rhodri Morgan accepted the keys to the Aberystwyth office, which will house up to 535 staff, last week, saying: “The new office is a signal of how this government wants to relate to the people of Wales in a new way. Devolution is not about creating a remote control centre of power in Cardiff. It is about bringing power closer to the people.”
Rural Affairs and Heritage, Enterprise and Transport and Sustainable Futures departments will be based in Aberystwyth.
There’s a Valleys WAG office in Merthyr Tydfil and Llandudno Junction is on the way. Staff will begin moving into the office next month.
