A Tenby man caught by police with cocaine with an estimated street value of £15k has been given an 18 month suspended prison sentence at Swansea Crown Court last Friday.
Christopher James Smith, aged 50, formally of Richmond House, Crackwell Street, Tenby, but now living in Reading, was arrested on March 26, 2010, in New Hedges, after police stopped and searched his car discovering two ounces of cocaine.
At a previous court hearing he pleaded guilty to possession of a Class A drug with intent to supply. Forensic tests revealed the cocaine was of a higher purity than normal and had a potential total maximum street value of £15,250.
Detective Inspector Anthony Griffiths, said: “Mr Smith was caught with a significant quantity of cocaine which he intended to sell on the streets of Pembrokeshire.
“We won’t tolerate this – the arrest demonstrates that officers in Pembrokeshire are proactively and determinedly targeting Class A drug dealers across the county.
“I have this message to those dealing in heroin or cocaine in our county the chances are we are watching you and it’s only a matter of time until we catch you and in most cases you will go to prison.”
