The inquiry into the murder of 89 year old Florence May Habesch of Grange Road Rhyl is continuing.
Detectives will be interviewing the 47 year old man arrested in Wolverhampton yesterday in connection with the offence, throughout the day.
The home address of Mrs Habesch will continue to be subject of further crime scene examination as will other addresses that have been identified as part of the investigation.
DCI Steve Williams said: “We can now confirm that there was a known association between the victim and the male arrested.
“Mrs Habesch’s family are being supported by trained officers.”
Police are asking that anyone with information or who may have been in the Grange Road area of Rhyl on Sunday and noticed anything suspicious to contact officers at North Wales Police on 101 (if in Wales) 0845 6071001 (Welsh language line) 0845 6071002 (English language line).”
