Get inspired at the Grand Pavilion

A dynamic and unique youth arts festival will be at the council-run Grand Pavilion, Porthcawl from Monday 21 to Friday 25 February.

As part of the Inspire festival, young people aged between 12 and 25 are invited to take part in dance, film and television workshops, receive free careers information on the creative industries, view a dynamic photography dance exhibition and watch an inspiring evening performance including new work by council-run Bridgend Youth Theatre and Dance.

During the week, there will be opportunities to view a dynamic photography exhibition by Roy Campbell-Moore of National Dance Company Wales which will include archive images of past Bridgend Youth Arts members and collect careers advice on the creative industries. Advice and access to the exhibition are free of charge.

On Tuesday 22 February from 10am – 4pm, take part in a contemporary dance workshop with National Youth Dance Wales. Suitable for people aged 14 years plus, this workshop offers young people a chance to spend a day dancing, creating and performing, offering a great chance to get an insight into the career paths and training opportunities available to young dancers. Please wear suitable clothing.

A film and television workshop will be taking place from 1 – 5pm on Thursday 24 February. The It’s My Shout crew will give you an insight into the variety of roles and career options available in film and television in Wales. You will be given a practical insight into roles including acting, scriptwriting, directing, producing, make up and set design. Many young people involved in the It’s My Shout scheme have continued to become successful figures in the film and television industry, both on screen and behind the scenes.

Don’t miss the opportunity to see a live ‘Inspire’ performance on Friday 25 February at 7pm, and enjoy new work by Bridgend Youth Theatre and Dance and performances by National Youth Dance Wales and National Dance Company Wales Associates.
