Post Office Paypoints fit the bill

Residents in the Caerphilly County Borough will find it far easier to pay their council bills shortly. Plans to use Paypoint facilities in all the Post Offices in the area for payments were accepted by the council’s cabinet last week.

A report on the future of Customer Services within the Caerphilly county borough was considered on Tuesday 15th February.

One of the key developments is the use of over 40 local post offices and their ‘Paypoint’ facilities across the county borough to make it convenient for residents to make payments to the authority.

Cllr Colin Mann, Deputy Leader & Cabinet Member for Corporate Finance and Sustainability said, “We have carried out an extensive consultation with councillors, staff and the wider community about the future of these services and this solution has been the most popular. It will support the local post offices and make it much easier for people to deal with council bills.

“The report agreed today sets out a series of efficiencies and service improvements which will bring our customer services closer to the residents whilst still saving money. We understand the importance of a face-to-face presence on the high street and it is very pleasing to see that these facilities are valued so highly,” he added.

Bargoed, Caerphilly and Risca town centres will also benefit from major investment that will see the development of new Library Resource Centres. These new facilities will provide a comprehensive range of customer services and will further improve the interface between the council and local residents by developing community ‘hubs’ with a range of services under one roof.
