Police appeal for witnesses after suspected arson attack

Dyfed Powys Police in Pembrokeshire are appealing for witnesses following a suspected arson attack on a flat in Milford Haven on Tuesday (Feb 22).

A first floor flat in a block of a dozen flats, at Chesnut Way, on the Mount Estate, was completely gutted by the fire that started at approximately 12.30pm.

There was nobody in the flat at the time of the fire and no one has been hurt. However, neighbours had to be evacuated from their flats by Police and the Fire Service.

Officers have arrested an individual in connection with the incident

Detective Sergeant Cameron Ritchie, Haverfordwest CID, said:

“It’s only through good fortune that nobody was hurt or killed in this blaze. It was a significant fire that has extensively damaged one flat. If the emergency services hadn’t have responded as quickly as they did the incident could have been much worse.”

Police are appealing for any witnesses who may have seen how the fire started to contact Haverfordwest CID immediately on tel 101.
