Swansea Council’s Corporate Building and Property Services is making it easier than ever for council tenants to request a repair for their home all year round.
The local authority is harnessing the internet to improve accessibility to its non-emergency repair service.
In addition to having the option of ringing the Housing Repairs Call Centre on 01792 635100, they can now report a general repair need on the Council’s web site at: www.swansea.gov.uk
The new web form gives them the opportunity to report a repair need 24 hours a day.
Tenants can go to the ‘Do it online’ section on the council’s website which is already proving popular with residents wanting to do everything from reporting pot holes to paying council tax.
Tenants then click on ‘Report It’ and then ‘Housing Repair’ and they will be taken to an online form to report their non-emergency repair.
The online request will be sent automatically to the Repairs Call Centre where it will be recorded and acted upon appropriately.
Sharon Jones, Housing Call Centre manager, said: “The Call Centre currently deals with approximately 64,000 calls a year from tenants requesting repairs and information about repairs.
“This results in over 65,500 jobs being completed by the service to help maintain the authority’s 13,500 homes.
“We hope that by utilising our highly rated website we can make the service even more accessible to tenants.”
For emergency repairs tenants should continue to contact the Repairs Call Centre on 01792 635100 between 7:30am – 6pm Monday to Friday or the out of hour’s emergency line on 01792 521500 at any other time.
