Flintshire pupils prepare for their own Mini Oscars

It’s all ‘lights, camera and action’ in Flintshire primary schools.

Foundation phase pupils from Ysgol Bryn Pennant, Ysgol Bryn Garth, Ysgol Bro Carmel and Ysgol Glan Aber will be working with professional film maker Chris Oakley and designer Andrea Davies to create their own animated films to be screened as part of the Flintshire Filmfest which culminates with the Flintshire Mini Oscars on May 16!

Pupils attending the Mini Oscars will be awarded trophies and certificates to celebrate their film production.

Funded by Flintshire County Council’s Directorate of Lifelong Learning (Foundation Phase) and coordinated by Flintshire’s Arts Development Officer Trefor Lloyd Roberts, this project certainly promises to bring a flavour of ‘Hollywood’ to Flintshire primary schools.

Claire Homard, Senior Learning Adviser, Foundation Phase at Flintshire County Council said:

“The foundation phase team is delighted to be supporting this highly innovative project which brings children’s creativity to the fore, gives them exciting opportunities to develop new skills and enables them to work in partnership with pupils from other schools and professional artists. It represents the best of what the foundation phase curriculum is able to offer to our children.’’
