Cardigan RNLI volunteers were were out training this morning in their two lifeboats when the coastguard received a 999 call from a member of the public reporting that a dog had fallen down the cliffs at Mwnt.
The smaller D class lifeboat quickly sped to the scene, rescued the dog, an Irish setter called Cochyn, and took him back to the beach to be reunited with his owner. Fortunately the bedraggled dog was suffering from little more than cuts and bruises.
As soon as the lifeboats returned to station they were launched again to reports of a missing person in the St Dogmaels area. Happily though the person was found safe and both lifeboats were stood down and returned to station.
