The Scarlets hopes of a Magners League play-off place were dented as leaders Munster continued their impressive run of form at Parc y Scarlets, taking a 13 v 6 victory this evening.
The game was level at 6 v 6 after 60 minutes but Simon Zebo’s try clinched the victory for the Irish side, who secured top spot in the table with two games to spare.
In a frantic opening both sides had opportunities to take the first score, Wales wing George North coming close for the home side.
The Scarlets did take the lead through a Rhys Priestland penalty but two in quick succession by his opposite number Paul Warwick edged Munster into the lead at the break.
Priestland was off target with his next shot at goal after the break but a huge drive by the Scarlets pack won the hosts another penalty and Priestland levelled the scores.
Again both sides came close to crossing the whitewash but were denied at the final stage until Zebo pounced on a loose ball to race clear and score.
Warwick converted as the visitors clinched the victory and the Scarlets will turn their attentions to next weekends clash against the Warriors.
