The Sandfields Neighbourhood Policing Team is going back to the classroom to help engage with parents who may not have the time to spare to attend their local PACT meeting.
Monthly drop-in sessions have been set up by Police Community Support Officers Paul James and Gareth Hughes to allow mums and dads to have their say on community issues.
The engagement events are being held at Tywyn Primary School between 2.30pm and 4pm which gives parents the chance to speak to the officers while they are out on the school run.
PCSO Hughes said: “Parents are busy people who sometimes don’t have the time to spare to attend the local PACT meeting, which is also held at the school.
“The drop-in session gives parents the chance to come and speak to us about any concerns about issues in their community while they are already attending the school to collect their child.
“It also gives us the opportunity to pass on information and for us to hear about what is going on in the area. The school has provided us with a private room and we are very grateful to the headteacher Rhodri Phillips for his support.”
While at the school the officers also conduct patrols to ensure vehicles are not being parked on zig-zag lines and on pavements, which has been a cause for concern for local residents.
Headteacher Mr Phillips added: “We have a good working relationship with the local officers and we are delighted to support them in this venture which we hope proves to be a success.”
