Safer Caerphilly MAC thanks company for donation

Staff at a centre supporting people living with domestic abuse, say they are overwhelmed by the generosity of a top cosmetics company.

Moved by one client’s simple wish to one day own something nice for herself, staff at the Safer Caerphilly Multi-Agency Centre, a one stop shop for all issues surrounding domestic abuse, contacted international handmade cosmetics company Lush to see if they could make a donation.

They were delighted to receive boxes of free products, including bubble bath, shampoo and soaps from the company which will now be handed out to service users, a great number currently being supported at local refuges.

Andrea Davies, Domestic Abuse Coordinator, said: “This was a really generous donation from Lush and has enabled us to provide some really lovely treats for a great number of people.

“A large number of the packs will benefit those who are currently being supported at refuges.

“Often when people arrive it will be in an emergency situation and they will have nothing but what they are wearing, so this small pack will make a huge difference and will help them feel that at least they have a little something of their very own to take care of basic needs in those first few days.

“We would like to say a massive thanks to Lush for their kindness- even a simple gift like this can make a really big difference.”

Cllr Judith Pritchard, Cabinet Member for Social Services added: “This wonderful donation I am sure will make real positive difference to those seeking help for issues surrounding domestic abuse.

“I also really cannot stress enough how much of a positive difference the Safer Caerphilly MAC and associated services has made to victims of domestic abuse and their families.

“I would urge anyone who is reading this and is suffering domestic abuse to seek help – there are people that can help you and your family – please do not suffer in silence”.
