Llangynwyd residents awoke yesterday morning (Monday April 18th) to find a large black and orange trailer parked on ‘The Square’.
This was a South Wales Police initiative promoting the 101 non-emergency telephone number. The visit was arranged by Llangynwyd PCSO Bella Rees as part of the ward’s current Burglary PACT priority.
PCSO Rees was joined by PCSO Maria Pascoe and they were able to provide valuable crime prevention literature and advice to curious residents. Advice focussed on the best ways to keep homes and property secure whilst enjoying the summer months and inevitable BBQs and social gatherings that come with sunshine.
PCSO Rees said: “The summer is a fantastic time of year but unfortunately we do see people fall victim to crimes which could have been avoided. Two simple tips to stop people becoming victims include keeping all windows and doors locked when you leave the house and ensuring valuables are not left on display. The Neighbourhood Policing Team does not want to see members of the community have their summers disrupted by opportunist thieves.”
PCSO Rees will be further emphasising this crime prevention advice by dropping ‘Beat the Burglar’ footprints through any vulnerable windows and doors whilst on patrol with the simple message being: ‘The next footprint you see may belong to a burglar’.
