At 5pm on Tuesday 19 April 2011 the volunteers at the RNLI’s station at Burry Port launched to the aid of three men cut off by the incoming tide at Machynys Point Llanelli.
The three local men had been out fishing when they found themselves cut off by the fast moving Spring tide. By the time the lifeboat reached them the water was up to their waist. The three were taken aboard the lifeboat and brought back to Burry Port where they were met by the coastguard team.
Anyone going on to a beach or off shore banks must make sure that they are aware of tide times as it is very easy to be cut off by incoming tides especially in estuaries. This is the third such incident that Burry Port RNLI has dealt with during the last four weeks.
The D class lifeboat The Young Watsons was crewed by Owain Davies, Phillip Morgan and Andrew Williams.
