A group of long time friends have all registered to take part in the Tŷ Hafan Midnight Sleep Walk in Cardiff on Saturday 13 May as a way to celebrate four of their birthdays and a forthcoming wedding!
The girls decided that this would provide them with a good chance to get together for a fun night out as well as showing their support for mums of life-limited children who use Tŷ Hafan.
“We have four birthdays to celebrate around the time of the event so we thought it would be a great excuse to get together whilst supporting a fantastic charity at the same time” explained Liz Rawlins who will turn 24 a few days before the event. “Plus with one of us getting married later in the summer, it’s a perfect chance for us to have a practice girls’ night out!”
One of the girls taking part is Jemma King who has a five-year old disabled son called Cameron. Jemma knows first-hand how hard it can be to wake every few hours throughout the night, but still have to get on with things the next day.
“Although Cameron has never needed the high level of care Tŷ Hafan offers children and their families, I can completely sympathise with Mums whose children have been diagnosed with a life-limiting condition who need 24/7 care” explains Jemma.
“If by giving up a just a few hours sleep means that we can help Tŷ Hafan offer Mums the care and support they need to get a well-earned extra few hours sleep, then we can’t think of a better way to spend our night, or a better reason to walk those 8 miles!”
