Have your say on 5 May

Residents are being urged to have their say on Thursday 5 May by turning out in force to cast their vote in the Welsh Assembly elections and voting system referendum.

At the last Assembly elections in 2007 the turn out for the Ogmore constituency was just 40 per cent and for Bridgend it was only a little higher at 41.2 per cent – meaning over HALF of constituents didn’t use their vote even though they were registered to do so.

Bridgend County Borough Council Chief Executive and Returning Officer Jo Farrar said: “We’re extremely pleased to have received so many applications as well as calls from resident checking that they are already registered and able to cast their votes at the forthcoming assembly elections.

“We’re now urging all those who are eligible and able to vote to do so and make Bridgend County Borough’s voice heard.”

Residents are being reminded that polling stations will be open from 7am – 10pm on 5 May. Residents should have received a card with details of their local polling station. If not, please call council’s Electoral Services team on 01656 643116 or email [email protected]

If you applied for a postal vote, it needs to be received by the Returning Officer by 10pm on Thursday 5 May. If you have left it too late to post back, you can drop it off at your polling station or to:
