Gwent Police is appealing for witnesses following a fatal two vehicle road traffic collision on the A465, Heads of the Valleys road eastbound between Brynmawr and Gilwern.
The collision occurred at approximately 11am this morning, Thursday 28th April.
The vehicles involved were a blue Peugeot carrying a female adult and child and a silver Mercedes carrying two females.
All occupants were conveyed to Nevill Hall Hospital.
The 7 year old girl travelling in the Peugeot sustained life threatening injuries and has since been pronounced deceased. The female adult in the same vehicle sustained serious head injuries, and currently remains in a life threatening condition.
The two occupants of the Mercedes sustained minor injuries.
The road is currently closed in both directions between Gilwern and Conoco roundabout while emergency services are in attendance.
