Swansea waste and recycling collections a day late

Swansea residents are being urged to remember that refuse and recycling collections will be done a day later than normal this week.

It means that Friday collections due for May 6 will be collected on Saturday May 7 instead. Everything returns to normal on May 9 and full details about collection days are carried on the Council’s recycling website, www.swansea.gov.uk/recycling

Trish Flint, Recycling Team Leader for Swansea Council, said that the recent change over to the alternate weekly collection service would not be affected by the revised collection schedule.

Alternate weekly collections mean the Council will collect specific household waste each week depending on it being a pink or a green week.

During the pink week, household rubbish in black bags, plastics and kitchen waste will be collected.

Then on the green week, kitchen waste and other recyclables like glass, cans, paper and cardboard and green waste will be collected.

Ms Flint said: “The change over to alternate weekly collections has gone really well. Residents are being very supportive and are doing their bit.”
