Residents in Denbigh will soon be able to benefit from the introduction of a brand new Taxibus to help them get out and about.
The taxibus idea has come about following consultation that took place in the autumn and the Taxibus will be available for residents of Accar y Forwyn, Bryn Onnen, Maes yr Eglwys and Bryn Stanley. None of these roads are suitable for the existing Denbigh town bus service.
The Taxibus, which will need to be pre – booked, will start on 23 May 2011. It will operate on Mondays to Fridays at 9.15am and 10.15am into Denbigh town centre, including Morrison’s and Lidl. There will be return journeys at 10.10am, 11.10am and 12.10am. The operator is Vale Taxis (01824 790485).
Councillor Sharon Frobisher, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “We received a positive response during the recent bus service consultation that a service for parts of Denbigh currently not served would benefit particularly those people who find it difficult to walk.
“The walk to both the town centre or existing bus is hilly in nature. During the summer, we will need to monitor the number of passengers using the service against the cost of providing it. Its continued availability will obviously depend upon usage.”
