Consultation starts on amalgamation of two Denbigh schools

Denbighshire has launched a consultation to consider proposals to amalgamate the Ysgol Gwaenynog (infants) and Ysgol Heulfre (Juniors) in Denbigh.

The consultation, which runs until the 24 June, will seek the views of parents, pupils, governors, staff and the local community on the proposal to bring the two schools together to run as a single school on the existing sites from 1 September 2012.

A number of meetings have been arranged to allow parents, governors, staff and the local community to discuss the proposal with officers from Denbighshire. The meetings for parents and the local community will take place on 23 May at 3.30 pm in Ysgol Heulfre and 6.30 pm in Ysgol Gwaenynog.

The proposal is line with the Council’s policy on Infant and Junior Amalgamation on the basis that an all-through school is the preferred model for primary school education.

The findings of the consultation exercise will be considered further by Denbighshire’s Cabinet in July 2011 who will then decide whether to proceed further with the proposals.
