Plans have been approved to reduce opening hours at three civic amenity sites in Swansea.
The plans are part of Swansea Council’s overall budget savings arrangements which were approved earlier in the year.
At present, the city’s five civic amenity sites at Garngoch, Penlan, Tir John, Baling Plant (Llansamlet) and Clyne are open seven days a week.
From June 1, the three sites at Garngoch, Penlan and Tir John will open from Friday until Monday and will close between Tuesday and Thursday.
The Baling Plant and Clyne will continue to operate for seven days a week.
Carl Humphrey, Head of Streetscene in Swansea Council, said: “All the sites will remain open during their busiest periods. We know the majority of residents use our civic amenity sites during the weekend.
“We have looked in detail at the percentage of waste collected at all five sites. Collection tonnages are significantly higher at the Baling Plant and Clyne which took nearly 65% of the waste collected in 2009/10.
“We don’t anticipate there being any problems for residents who want to dispose of household waste.
“Residents who want to recycle their waste also have the opportunity to use our kerbside recycling services.”
