Neath Port Talbot Council has been successful in obtaining grant funding for a schools environmental road show project under the Welsh Assembly Government’s Local Environmental Quality programme.
This road show, entitled ‘The Tidy Ted & Eco Eli Road Show’ is aimed at primary and junior schools throughout the county borough.
The show will run from November 5th up until the last day of term on the 18th December and feature the well known Gregory Brothers who have produced similar road shows for the council through the road safety programme and Henson the Hedgehog.
The aims of the road show are to promote and stimulate primary and junior school children’s interest and awareness of environmental issues such as, recycling, litter, waste, dog fouling and graffiti.
Tidy Ted and Eco Eli are the main characters in the show and are supported by the puppets Spick & Span, Lotta Bottle and Dan the Can. A CD containing songs of the show has already been distributed to each school so that they will be familiar with them on the day of their show.
In addition a range of promotional items will be distributed to the schools on the day and each participating school will receive a commemorative certificate signed personally by Tidy Ted and Eco Eli.
The Deputy Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Arwyn Woolcock, said, “We are delighted to have been successful in obtaining this grant to help us promote responsible attitudes towards cleanliness and other environmental issues among the children of our authority.
“We are also once again pleased to be working with the Gregory Brothers who have previously made a valuable contribution to road safety and waste awareness in our schools.”
