Businesses, schools, voluntary groups and the public sector have been rewarded for their commitment to making environmental improvements.
Neath Port Talbot Environment Forum held their prestigious award ceremony this week to honour those groups who have carried out some excellent work in Neath Port Talbot.
Over 180 guests attended the event at the Towers Hotel which was sponsored by the Countryside Council for Wales and Corus.
The master of ceremonies for the evening was TV Wildlife presenter, Iolo Williams.
The overall winner accolade went to Derwen Aggregates in recognition of their innovation, their zero waste to landfill and their team commitment to environmental improvements.
Company spokesperson Debbie Keogh, said, “I would like to thank the Neath Port Talbot Environment Forum for an extremely enjoyable evening. We were delighted to be the winners of the Green Business of the Year and extremely proud to receive the Overall Winners Award.
“The inaugural awards were a complete success and we look forward to next year.”

Mentro Allan (Green Public Sector Department of the Year)
South and West Wales Amphibian and Reptile Group(Action for Wildlife Award)
Cwmafan Residents Action Committee (Green Voluntary Group of the Year)
Council Leader Ali Thomas added, “The event was a great success and highlighted the excellent work being carried out in Neath Port Talbot to improve the environment we live in.
“We hope to continue on from the success of this year’s event in promoting local groups, schools, organisations and businesses who are doing something positive for the environment.
“We will be holding a 2010 awards and look forward to receiving many more entries.”
