Five students from Swansea University have cycled the length of Wales to raise money for the Mumbles RNLI lifeboat appeal.
Voluntary lifeboat crew member Alistair Carly Smith was one of the five medical students who started off from Beaumaris lifeboat station early on Saturday morning (14 May):
‘We were really lucky the weather held off so we were bang on schedule to arrive at our stop-off point on Saturday night at the lifeboat station in Aberystwith.’
Keen cyclist John Kirby said: ‘We thought the course across Snowdonia would have been the toughest but it was the hills around Llandeilo that were the most exhausting.’
The team completed the 180 mile journey over two days without a single puncture and so far have raised over £500 of their £1000 target for the Mumbles Tamar lifeboat appeal. There was a reception for the team when they arrived at the Mumbles lifeboat station.
