Commenting on a fall in the number of people unemployed in Wales, Shadow Minister for Business, Enterprise & Technology, Andrew RT Davies AM, said:
“These figures are extremely positive news for Wales and paint a very encouraging picture of the UK government’s strategy.
“A similar drop in the number of people who are economically inactive is also incredibly welcome; both for those who have found employment, and the Welsh economy as a whole.
“Losing employment is clearly a huge personal tragedy and I am very heartened to see today’s upward trend.
“The Welsh Labour Government must now make building on this an absolute priority.
“Critical levers of economic growth – like transport, planning and skills – are scattered around the Cabinet table, despite business leaders’ calls for one unified department.
“Labour have got to make sure their approach works efficiently. It’s crucial they start listening to the people that know best – not their own voices.
“I want urgent clarification on the future of the Economic Renewal Programme and their promises for a manufacturing strategy.
“Simply – Labour’s tired old approach to the economy cannot be allowed to continue.”
