The Flintshire Healthy Schools Scheme is holding a Celebration of Achievements event at Ysgol Gwynedd, Flint on Friday 27 May, featuring performances and exhibitions by local school children that focus on physical, social, emotional and environmental health.
The Flintshire Healthy Schools Scheme funded by the Welsh Assembly Government is a co-operative project between health and education, which recognises that there are mutual benefits in young people’s health and attainments to be gained through partnership working. The scheme is part of the Welsh Network of Healthy School Schemes.
Friday’s celebration event will include:
The presentation of the Welsh Network of Healthy Schools Awards to primary, secondary and special schools. Young pupils who recently won a Master of Ceremonies competition held in Flintshire schools will be introducing proceedings.
Performances by pupils demonstrating activities carried out in schools that promote physical, social and emotional health including e-safety, cheerleading and respecting others.
A presentation and performance by the Respecting Others competition winner. (The Respecting Others competition was an anti-bullying initiative which was pupil instigated and led).
Those attending will include the Chief Executive of Flintshire County Council, Colin Everett, Welsh Assembly Members, education officers, head teachers, teachers, governors, pupils, Local Health Board representatives and partner organisations supporting health promotion in the community.
There will also be an exhibition consisting of displays from schools and supporting partner agencies.
