People with disabilities can now share their experiences, thanks to the recent launch of the North Wales Police Disability Support Network.
The inaugural meeting of the group was held in the summer when police officers and staff identified a need for a network, not just for people with disabilities, but also for members of staff caring for people with disabilities.
Chairperson James Lusted said: “There area a lot of people who can share experiences and solutions. The purpose of the Disability Support Network is to raise awareness that there are other people with disabilities and for us to network to make reasonable adjustments so we can work together in unity.”
Chief Superintendent Simon Humphreys added: “It’s about recognising individual talents within the organisations and working together to overcome barriers to allow people to reach their potential.”
Staff were invited to drop in at the Interchange in Colwyn Bay, to speak to advisors from Shaw Trust, Access to Work, Disability Employment Advisors, Colleague Supporters, Unison and Federation and numerous other agencies.
