A free fun day for all the family will take place at Cardiff Central Market this week.
In association with the National Market Traders’ Federation, Central Market will be taking part in the Making Markets Matter campaign to encourage shoppers to make the most of their local markets.
The event takes place on Friday, June 17 between 10am and 4pm and will include face painting, children’s activities, an exciting voucher vault, plenty of freebies and a visit from Victor the Lion, the campaign mascot.
Activities will take place inside the market and on Working Street to promote the traditional Victorian landmark at the heart of Cardiff city centre.
The market has recently celebrated its 120th anniversary and has undergone restoration work to the Trinity Street entrance.
Executive Member for Finance and Service Delivery, Cllr Mark Stephens, said: “Cardiff Central Market plays an important part in the city’s retail economy and has done so in its current guise for over 100 years.
“The market offers a unique shopping experience for residents and visitors to the city with such a vast array of goods available all under one roof.
“We’re delighted to be part of this campaign and hope that the fun day next week will attract new shoppers to the market and raise awareness of this fantastic asset at the heart of the city.”
