Plaid Cymru has today announced the appointment of the its new Chief Executive.
Rhuanedd Richards, who has previously worked as a Special Adviser for the Welsh Government and as a reporter, producer and presenter for BBC Wales, will take the reigns during the the summer recess.
Rhuanedd will succeed the previous Chief Executive Gwenllian Lansdown who stood down last month to move to Montgomeryshire.
As Chief Executive, Rhuanedd will lead the day to day running of the party’s operation at Plaid Cymru’s head quarters in Cardiff. Plaid Chair Ellen ap Gwynn said:
“We’re delighted to have been able to appoint Rhuanedd as Plaid’s new Chief Executive. She brings a deep understanding of the party and wealth of experience to the team at this important time.”
Commenting on her appointment, Rhuanedd Richards said:
“It’s a huge privilege for me to have been given this opportunity. Plaid’s contribution to Wales, particularly since devolution, has been tremendous both in terms of bringing about a law-making Assembly and in working tirelessly for the people of this country. “The party’s work in changing Wales and in building a more prosperous and fairer nation has, however, only just begun.
“I will be joining Plaid as Chief Executive at a time of great opportunity as we seek to renew Plaid and to set out to articulate a clear vision and direction for the party and for Wales for the years ahead. “My immediate priorities will be to support the party during this process and to work with elected members and grassroots supporters alike to broaden the party’s appeal further in all parts of Wales.”
