Clwyd West Assembly Darren Millar has called for urgent clarification over the future of the HMRC office in Colwyn Bay.
Media reports today highlight a leaked document which shows that only one of the eight HMRC sites in Wales are guaranteed to remain open until 2020.
Following the reports, Darren Millar has written to the Minister responsible at HM Treasury to request clarification over the future of the Colwyn Bay HMRC office in his constituency.
Darren said:
‘The closure of Colwyn Bay tax office would be a devastating blow for the town. It is a crucial source of employment which provides a much needed face to face bi-lingual service for businesses and individuals across Conwy and beyond.
‘The media reports today will undoubtedly cause significant uncertainty and upset for those working in the tax office in Colwyn Bay and their families.
‘The UK Government must clarify the status of the leaked document as soon as possible.’
