Jeff Cuthbert, Assembly Member for Caerphilly, is supporting Save the Children’s national No Child Born To Die campaign to stop the deaths of 8 million children from preventable causes every year and to eradicate child poverty in Wales.
The No Child Born To Die campaign believes that no child should be born without a chance. All children have the right to a warm home, the right food and the hope of a good education. That is why Save the Children is helping the poorest children and families in Wales to get a better start in life by campaigning to end child poverty by 2020.
Save the Children recently held a summertime celebration at the Senedd inviting Assembly Members along to talk to the charity about its work in Wales and Jeff Cuthbert AM was delighted to hear about the numerous ways in which Save the Children acts to help children in Wales and throughout the world.
As part of the event, and in support of the No Child Born To Die campaign, Assembly Members were asked to share what they were ‘born to do’.
Jeff Cuthbert AM for Caerphilly said that he was “Born To ‘Spell badly’, being dyslexic.”
Jeff Cuthbert AM added: “We are all born to dream, born to achieve, born to discover. But whilst some are born to grow old and wise, many more will never grow up at all. The campaign put forward by Save the Children makes vital contribution to safeguard children’s rights everywhere.”
Being the Minister for Skills, Jeff Cuthbert will actively be contributing to the Welsh Government’s policies that will ensure the best possible career prospects and education for young people that will help to fight child poverty in the long run.
