Denbighshire teacher’s strike information

In preparation for the strike action by the National Union of Teachers and the Association of Teachers and Lecturers on 30 June 2011, Denbighshire is currently putting plans in place to ensure that disruption is kept to a minimum.

It is anticipated that the impact will vary depending upon the number of teachers taking part in the strike at individual schools. Decisions on closure or the exclusion of selected pupil groups will be taken at the school level by individual headteachers, having assessed the staffing situation and the practicality or otherwise of providing adequate and safe provision for pupils on that day.

All schools will be open to allow non-striking staff to attend work and they will undertake other duties during the day.

We are expecting a number of picket lines to be set up across a number of schools within the County and headteachers will facilitate the process of supporting staff across these lines.

Individual schools will make the appropriate arrangements to notify parents, carers and pupils of any implications of the strike action.

Here is a list of schools that have announced they will be closed so far:

  • Ysgol y Parc Infants, Denbigh
  • Ysgol Bryn Collen, Llangollen
  • Ysgol y Faenol, Bodelwyddan
  • Ysgol Plas Brondyffryn at the following three sites – Park Street, Ty’r Ysgol and Ty’n Fron
  • Ysgol Tir Morfa School, Rhyl
