Glyn Davies, Montgomeryshire’s Conservative MP, is giving his full backing to Powys County Councillors as they express their concerns about the devastating impact that National Grid’s Mid Wales Connection Project will have on Mid Wales.
Councillors are meeting at Welshpool Livestock Market today, Wednesday, to discuss their approach to how the Mid Wales Connection Project should be dealt with. It is expected that Councillors will demand that the Welsh Government reviews its renewable energy policy and that the UK Government takes full account of the views of the people of Wales.
Glyn said:
“I welcome full consideration by Councillors of the impact of the Mid Wales Connection Project on Powys.
“I have met with leaders of the Council to offer them my full support if they are pressurised by either the Welsh or UK Governments.
“Personally I will not rest until National Grid abandons their completely destructive Mid Wales Connection Project – an ambition I believe is now within our grasp.”
Adding:
“Now is not the time to ease off on our protests. Following some success, it is time to put our foot down on the pedal and drive home our advantage.”
