TV Naturalist Iolo opens wildlife conference at National Museum Cardiff

A conference celebrating the wonderful diversity of Welsh wildlife will be held at National Museum Cardiff on Saturday 23rd July 2011, 10am-4pm in conjunction with the South and West Wales Wildlife Trust.

The Unknown Wales conference, which will be opened by TV presenter and naturalist Iolo Williams, is an opportunity to explore the wonders of Welsh wildlife, from breakthroughs in scientific research to species reintroduction. Admission is free, to book your place please phone (029) 2057 3148.

There is a host of interesting talks on the day including beaver reintroduction with Derek Gow, explore the slippery tales of slugs and snails in Wales with Dr Ben Rowson and hear about the Manx Shearwater with Trevor Theobald.  During the afternoon delegates can find out more about South Wales’ secret shores with Judith Oakley, explore how new research is changing the way we look at our Welsh flora with Dr Natasha de Vere and Rob Parry will be discussing garden wildlife monitoring.

There will also be optional behind the scenes tours of the natural history galleries at National Museum Cardiff at the end of the day.
