Cricket legend Allan Lamb is a guest speaker at an evening dinner to celebrate this year’s Margam Festival.
Patrons are invited to spend an evening with Allan Lamb and special guest comedian Phil Howe.
57 year old Alan played first class cricket for many years, first for Western Province, South Africa, then Northamptonshire before moving on to play for England.
Born in Cape Province in South Africa, he made his fame playing for England following advice from Northamptonshire secretary Ken Turner to leave South Africa when they were banned from test match cricket because of the apartheid regime.
His parents’ English heritage opened the doors for him to play for England.
Allan was to be a fixture of the English middle order for the next decade. He played in 79 tests, captained England three times and in 1996 came close to taking Northamptonshire to their first championship.
Allan has been one of the most successful batsmen of his generation and was named Cricketer of the Year in 1981.
