Commenting on car parts firm Sogefi’s announcement to begin a consultation with staff in Llantrisant, Shadow Business Minister Andrew RT Davies AM, said:
“Sogefi’s decision acts as another setback for manufacturing and employment in Wales.
“It’s the latest in a long list of jobs blows and the Welsh Labour government now has a duty to liaise closely with the firm as it works to limit job losses.
“Only yesterday Zurich announced positions would go and while unemployment has been falling across Wales, it’s obvious that some areas continue to struggle.
“The Business Minister must look at why this is the case and urgently consider what can be done to turn that around.
“Still the Department for Economy dithers. Still officials ‘examine’ enterprise zones. Still the process goes on to appoint a Director General to oversee civil servants.
“When will anything actually happen?”
