Have Your Say On Important Conservation Plans

Residents are being given the chance to have their say on important and fascinating plans to protect and celebrate historic Llantrisant and Pontypridd Town Centre.

Consultation takes place until July 29 on the draft Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plans for both areas.

Find out more about plans for Llantrisant Conservation Area during an exhibition at Caerlan Hall from 12pm to 5pm on Tuesday, July 12, which includes a presentation and question and answer session at 4pm.

The event will showcase the draft Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan and proposals to reduce the size of the Conservation Area to only incorporate the historic area.

You can also find out more about the important legal order that came into force at the end of June to protect the unique appearance and atmosphere of Llantrisant Old Town by requiring homeowners in the area to secure planning permission to carry out certain works to their houses.

Pontypridd Town Centre Conservation Area will be the subject of a similar event at the Muni Arts Centre from 9am to 2pm on Wednesday, July 13, which includes a presentation and question and answer session at 1pm.

Again, visitors can enjoy an exhibition on the Conservation Area Appraisal and Management Plan and learn more about plans to increase the town centre Conservation Area to incorporate Ynysangharad War Memorial Park and Courthouse Street.

Following the special event, the exhibition will move to Pontypridd Library, where people can drop in during normal library opening hours to find out more, until July 29. You can also view the Pontypridd town centre plans online at www.rctcbc.gov.uk

“As well as outlining the assets of these areas, the draft plans also put in place plans for the future. We are pleased to be able to offer people the chance to learn more and air their views.”
