Governors, teachers, parents and pupils, past or present of two Connah’s Quay schools are being asked for ideas to name a brand new school in the town.
Members of the school community will also be asked for their ideas for an emblem, motto and pupils’ uniform.
Building work is progressing at the site of the new £7½ m primary school in Connah’s Quay.
It will replace Custom House Lane Junior School and Dee Road Infants School and is due to open in September 2012.
The new single storey school is being built by Read Construction Holdings Ltd., of Brymbo on the existing school playing fields and will accommodate 360 primary and 30 nursery pupils.
Headteacher Designate, Kate Fox-Parry, said:
“We are encouraging people to play a part in creating Connah’s Quay’s history. Please use your imagination and historical knowledge to create and design a name, a uniform, an emblem and a motto for our new school.”
Councillor Bernie Attridge, Chairman of the Temporary Governing Body said:
“These are exciting times for the whole school community I look forward to receiving the ideas of our children and families and would encourage people to get involved.”
Entry forms are available from either school and the closing date is Friday, 9th September.
