A final decision on whether Denbighshire County Council can demolish Corwen Pavilion is expected to be taken on Tuesday, 19 July 2011.
In a telephone conference this morning (Wednesday) with the judge presiding over the case, Denbighshire County Council was told it had a “formidable case” for demolition.
Representatives of the Friends of the Pavilion Group had failed again to meet a deadline to provide all the relevant information requested by the court, including their ability to meet the costs arising from the case if the Council was successful in its application.
However, given the seriousness of the decision, the judge has allowed the group until Friday, 15 July to provide financial information.
Jamie Groves, Denbighshire’s Head of Leisure, Libraries and Community Development, said: “The Council is confident that it has presented a robust case and this has been acknowledged by the court.
“However, we need to respect the decision of the court to allow the trustees a few more days to present the financial information requested. The matter will then be in the hands of the court.”
