Rhosddu Post Office to share in £850,000 Welsh Post Office boost

Assembly Member for Wrexham, Lesley Griffiths, has welcomed the news that Rhosddu Post Office is to share in  a Welsh Government payout of £849,658, in the latest round of Post Office Diversification Grant funding.

The Grants were announced on Monday, by Welsh Government Minister for Local Government and Communities, Carl Sargeant – and will be shared by 87 Post Offices across Wales.

The Rhosddu branch has been allocated £5,000 as part of the pay-out to pay for Printer/Photocopier facilities.  The money will help the branch diversify by enabling the purchase of new equipment to provide an all new Printer and photocopier service for customers.

The grants have been approved under the latest round of Post Office Diversification Funding which helps local Post Offices expand their businesses and provide new services for the community.

Lesley, whose constituency office is situated on Rhosddu Road, said:

“I am delighted Rhosddu Post Office is to benefit from this funding. I am familiar with the staff at the branch would like to congratulate them on their successful application to the Post Office Diversification Fund.

“The funds will help put the branch upon a more sustainable footing for the future as it can now offer an even greater array of services to the customer.

“This is one of 87 post offices across Wales to be awarded grant funding to help sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses diversify and improve their facilities.

“Post Office Diversification Grant funding has a dual advantage of providing people with a better array of services for people within their communities, whilst ensuring that their Local Post Offices can remain on a sustainable footing. “

Since July 2009, funds totalling £3.5 million have been paid out to 229 successful Post Offices across Wales as part of the Fund – 182 of which have now completed the works funded.
