Fforestfach Park and Ride back this week

Motorists can once again start using Park and Ride in Fforestfach from next week.

The facility off White City Road has been out of action since a major industrial fire started in an adjoining site last month but it will be back available from Tuesday (July 19).

The first two days of operation (Tuesday July 19 and Wednesday July 20) will be free of charge for customers to thank them for their patience.

Alternative Park and Ride facilities at Landore and Fabian Way were available throughout the temporary closure.

The industrial fire was finally put out on Friday July 9 and the Park and Ride car park and building are being fully cleaned to make sure the service at Fforestfach is up and running as soon as possible.

Cllr John Hague, Swansea Council Cabinet Member for Environment, said: “We’re delighted that the Park and Ride facility at Fforestfach will be back open from Tuesday. This is great news for our Park and Ride season ticket holders and for casual users of the facility.

“Terrific multi-agency work meant the problems the fire caused were magnificently dealt with and this means we’re in a position to re-open the Fforestfach Park and Ride site sooner than we’d anticipated.

“We apologise for any disruption that may have been caused but we’d like to show our gratitude to our customers by offering them free use of the service at the site on the first two days of its operation next week.”
