Debbie Nalecz has been appointed as the new Empty Homes Officer for Denbighshire, funded by North Wales Housing.
The position was created through a partnership between North Wales Housing and Denbighshire County Council, aiming to further provide for those who are in housing need.
The role will require Debbie to identify the empty homes in Denbighshire and bring them back into use for affordable housing, through leasing or purchasing arrangements.
Debbie said: “Every empty home will have a different story. The key is to understand why it’s empty and to work closely with the owner to bring it back into use.
“I’ll be there to help owners, but can also take enforcement action as a last resort.
“We would like to hear from people who live near an empty home or if they own one. If we are aware of these properties, we can help bring it back into use”.
Councillor David Thomas, Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, said: ” This is more good news again for Denbighshire. Debbie’s appointment will help to continue with the excellent partnership work that is being carried out between Denbighshire County Council and North Wales Housing on empty homes in Denbighshire.”
