RNLI lifeguards assisted a 51 year old woman at 4:30pm this afternoon after she fell off the rocks at Clarach beach, Ceredigion. The woman, who was visiting the area from Telford, was trying to grab her grandson as he slipped on the rocks, but as she tried to the save the boy she fell down the rocks herself.
RNLI lifeguards Tom Main (20) and Caleb Spencer (22) were at their unit when they were informed of the incident by a member of the public. The woman had managed to hobble half way across the beach to the lifeguard unit when Tom and Caleb arrived but was assisted by the lifeguards for the rest of the distance.
Tom and Caleb provided first aid as they waited for the ambulance to arrive, but as time passed she was very dizzy and her condition worsened. The charity’s lifeguards continued to give first aid and make her as comfortable as possible until the paramedics arrived.
RNLI lifeguard Tom Main said:
‘The RNLI provides great first aid training so that we’re able to respond confidently to various incidents that may happen on the beach. We hope that the woman that we assisted today will feel better soon and that she and her family will enjoy the rest of their visit to the area.’
