A Flintshire County Council employee has been named a winner at a prestigious awards ceremony.
Chris Wright, Operations Manager at Greenfield Valley Heritage Park, was named a winner in the Morgan Foundation Entrepreneur Awards at Carden Park Hotel.
The Foundation was established by Steve Morgan of Redrow and the winners and runners up in the six categories won a total of £100,000 plus a package of valuable professional services, including free banking advice from the main sponsor Barclays Commercial Bank.
Now in their third year, the Awards are designed to encourage a whole new generation of entrepreneurial role models and were open to charities, social enterprises, businesses and entrepreneurs from Merseyside, Cheshire, Shropshire, North Wales and the Wolverhampton area.
Chris Wright won the Runner’s up Trophy in the Best Individual Entrepreneur Working in a Charity or Social Enterprise category together with a Cheque for the Greenfield Valley Trust of £2,500. Chris manages the Greenfield Museum and Heritage Park in Holywell, Flintshire.
Chris said: “2009 has been our best ever year for admissions and this award is a very big cherry on a large chocolate cake!
“I applied for the award and having been shortlisted had to do a 20 minute presentation to a panel of judges which included Steve Morgan himself. It was a bit like Dragon’s Den but twice as nerve wracking.”
