More road improvements planned

The next phase of Denbighshire’s £7 million investment in improving the condition of its roads will get underway next week when the microasphalt contractor arrives in the county to undertake a significant volume of work.

Further work of this type will also take place later in the year but for now, the roads which will benefit from the process next week will be:-

  • B5429 Graigfechan to Capel Salem
  • Link from B5429 Hendrewydd to Speddyd Junction
  • A525 Rhewl Village
  • A5104 Jordans Garage, Bryneglwys
  • B5429 Llysfasi to Tyn Llanfair
  • B5437 Green Lane Junction to Carrog
  • Eryrys to Tan y Graig Junction
  • B5430 jnc to Pant y Gwylanod
  • Bryn Awelon, Eryrys
  • Pen y Gaer, Pwll Glas
  • Tower Road, Llangollen
  • Dinbren Road from Tower Rd to Wharf Hill
  • Llanfair Dyffryn Clwyd

Microasphalt is a cost effective process which results in a smooth, even road surface which also protects the underlying carriageway from deteriorating and has been used extensively and effectively for many years. The actual laying process is a quick one and therefore, with good weather, the programme of work should be completed within three weeks.

Councillor Sharon Frobisher, Cabinet Lead Member for Environment, said: “Improvements to our highways network remains one of Denbighshire’s top four priorities, which is demonstrated by such a large investment to bring our roads up to scratch across the county.

“Obviously we will aim to keep disruption to drivers to a minimum at every opportunity but we would like to apologise in advance for any delays this work could cause and ask that drivers bear with us as we undertake this vital work.”
