Tenants get a new handbook to answer any questions

At the end of last month the Tai Ceredigion housing association launched its brand new Tenant’s Handbook at their Annual General Meeting in Ciliau Aeron.

The new reference book was written by the tenants for the tenants and should answer any question a tenant may have, from who to contact for repairs and emergencies to what to do if there are any other queries with their tenancies.

The new handbook meets at least two of the promises the organisation made in their Offer Document to tenants before the transfer of the housing stock from Ceredigion County Council in late 2009. The handbook focuses principally on the services provided for the tenants who will start receiving their copy of the handbook in September. Work now begins on the upcoming Leaseholder’s Handbook.

Eleri Jenkins, Director of Housing and Support said “With over 2,200 homes in Ceredigion it is our responsibility as a social landlord to provide our tenants with comprehensive information and to show complete transparency. This handbook reinforces their tenancy agreements and provides all the relevant information in one place. We would like to thank the team of tenants who have given up their time and effort into producing this handbook from start to finish. They have been fantastic.”

Peter Deakin, the Chair of the Tenant Monitoring Group and a member of the writing team said “We are thrilled with the final version and I was delighted to receive the first copy on behalf of the Tenant Monitoring Group. We wanted to make the handbook as friendly as possible, with the contact details on the front cover so they are easy to find and with clearly marked sections inside. I would like to thank all the team for their input and Tai Ceredigion for delivering on their promises.”
